The Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce has appointed Redvers Public
Relations as its first full-time PR consultancy.
The Maidenhead-based agency won the account following a three-way
competitive pitch. It will handle the chamber’s public affairs strategy
and undertake a review of its communications channels, with the
intention of giving the body a stronger voice on national issues.
Redvers PR will work closely with the chamber’s policy unit following
the publication of the Government white paper Serplan (South-east
Regional Plan) in October. The white paper is expected to have an impact
on infrastructure, communications, employment and housing in the region.
The agency will work to ensure that the views of locally-based
businesses are represented in any changes that take place.
The Thames Valley Chamber is the largest accredited chamber in the UK,
representing over 4,000 companies across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and
Oxford. Its remit also includes Heathrow airport.
Chamber president David Briggs said: ’Businesses in the Thames Valley
are acutely aware of the problems caused by the strength of the pound
and the shortage of skilled workers. We need to ensure that our views
are adequately reflected in Government policies.’
