The world’s biggest telemarketing firm, Sitel, is poised to announce
which UK PR agency it has chosen to lead its pan-European PR campaign.
American-based Sitel last week saw pitches from GCI, Fleishman-Hillard
and Handel Communications for the account, which is believed to have a
budget of around pounds 225,000, with fees totalling more than pounds
100,000.
The pitch comes six months after Sitel moved into Europe by merging with
telemarketing giant Mitre, the holding group for Merit Direct and the
Decisions Group.
Industry sources believe that it is likely that the new recruit will
work alongside what were Merit Direct and the Decisions Group’s UK
consultancies: Stephen Palmer and Spec Communications, respectively.
Mitre did not formerly use a PR agency outside the UK.
Sitel employs around 14,000 people in North America, Europe and Japan.
