Eddie Bauer, the US Retail and home shopping giant, has hired Jackie
Cooper PR in preparation for a spring assault on the British market.
The agency clinched the three-year contract last week after pitching
against an original list of eight PR consultancies. Fees are believed to
be worth between pounds 50,000 and pounds 100,000 a year.
Targeting a broad audience of ABC1 males and females between 25 and 45,
Jackie Cooper will conduct all Eddie Bauer’s media relations.
This includes ‘strategic campaigns’ to support the launch of a string of
stores in London and Manchester next year.
It will also promote a series of home buying catalogues for the company.
Eddie Bauer is owned by the German mail order giant Otto Versand and has
teamed up with another of its companies - Grattan - for the UK launch.
The retailer has 440 stores in the US and distributes more than 103
million catalogues each season. Specialising in American sports-style
casual wear, the company is expected to compete with Timberland, The Gap
and Racing Green.
‘Eddie Bauer has broken down some traditional boundaries in the way
fashion has been retailed in theUS and it’s a terrific compliment to be
entrusted with such an exciting concept for the UK high street,’ said
Robert Phillips, managing director of Jackie Cooper PR.
