The recently-merged Royal and Sun Alliance Insurance Group last week saw
presentations from Shandwick Consultants and Brunswick PR. Before the
merger Shandwick worked for the Royal while Brunswick handled Sun
Alliance.
Lebus to quit Dewe Rogerson for charity
Christina Lebus, business development director at Dewe Rogerson, is to
quit the agency after 15 years. She will leave in the new year to become
director of children’s charity WellBeing. She will be replaced by Louise
Solomon who was to leave this month.
German food body seeks new agency
German food association CMA is looking for a new PR agency after 15
years with Shandwick. The Central Marketing Organisation of German
Agricultural Industries needs an agency to handle trade and consumer
media relations and organise events. Three agencies are pitching for the
account.
Maister hits PR with ‘prostitute’ jibe
Too many PR consultants fail to fulfil their potential because they act
like prostitutes - taking on unrewarding work and clients they dislike
in return for money, according to US management guru David Maister. His
remarks came at a dinner last week hosted by his cousin, London Bureau
managing director Stuart Maister, at the Institute of Directors. He
argued that the most successful professional services firms refuse to
compromise corporate values for short-term gain, and have structures
which make them intolerant of underperforming staff.

Lynne Franks PR has been appointed by US Internet navigation network,
Excite, as their first European PR agency.
Infopress in Ceylon Tea Gardens win
Infopress has been hired to handle financial and corporate PR for Ceylon
Tea Gardens, a new tea company backed by the Sri Lankan government. The
account carries a fee of pounds 60,000.
Ripon seeks theological communicator
The Anglican diocese of Ripon is searching for its first communications
officer. The Leeds-based officer will need an accredited lay
qualification such as a theology degree.
White joins Peter Prowse Associates
Eric White, 30, former senior consultant at Countrywide Porter Novelli
and head of PR for Royal Mail International before that, has joined
Peter Prowse Associates as account director.
Baan seeks to raise profile in ERP market
Baan Company, the manufacturing software firm, is seeking a PR agency to
raise its profile in the enterprise resource planning (ERP) market. Baan
ended its relationship with The Edge Partnership this summer. A Plus,
Firefly and DPA Public Relations have been asked to pitch.
FFi and Hall or Nothing secure London gig
Youth and music PR specialists FFi and Hall or Nothing are handling
public relations for London Music Week, the three-day international
music congress and seven-day live music festival, scheduled for 26
April.
