CHICAGO: Holding company Daniel J Edelman Inc has formed a second
agency, PR 21, which will handle business that could conflict with
existing clients of its sister agency Edelman PR Worldwide.
The new firm will be jointly headquartered in Chicago and New York, with
additional offices planned in London and Hong Kong.
Will Sullivan has been named president and chief executive of PR 21.
Sullivan was previously chief marketing officer for Imation, the data
storing and imaging company launched by technology and manufacturing
company 3M in 1996. He is also former director of international
healthcare operations for Rowland, which bought his agency in 1991.
’Our goal is to have in place two separate top-tier global networks that
can accommodate the economic trends towards continued acquisitions,
merging technologies and convergent growth,’ said Daniel Edelman,
founder of Edelman PR Worldwide. He is also chairman of the board of
Daniel J Edelman Inc, the holding company for PR 21 and Edelman PR
PR 21 will focus on marketing communications services for the technology
and new media, consumer products and healthcare fields. It launches with
15 staff, mostly drawn from Edelman’s operations.
The technology practice will be headed by Paul Battaglia in Chicago; new
media will be lead by Renee Edelman in New York. Roberta Marks will
direct the healthcare practice in New York and Terry Hurley will
supervise the consumer practice in Chicago.
PR 21 has already signed up 19 clients - including Boehringer Ingelheim
and Time Warner’s new media division - with an estimated fee income of
pounds 1.8 million.
