The Royal College of Nursing is to lose its director of external
affairs in January. Joanne Rule is leaving the college to become chief
executive of the British Dyslexia Association.
Her replacement at the RCN will become director of corporate affairs,
the change in title reflecting the extent to which Rule’s remit has
grown during her seven years at the RCN.
The role now encompasses lobbying, PR, publications, marketing,
membership communications and co-ordinating the international
The RCN represents over 300,000 members as a trade union and is also the
largest provider of education for registered nurses.
It has been spearheading the campaign to communicate the value of
nursing under the leadership of general secretary Christine Hancock.
