Ocean Group, the global logistics company, has appointed Ludgate as

its financial PR agency after a five-way pitch. Other agencies involved

were incumbent Shandwick, Hogarth, Maitland and Hudson Sandler.

Ludgate will focus on media relations and, together with an in-house

team, on investor relations. The account is worth pounds 50,000 to

pounds 100,000 in fees.

The appointment comes as Ocean streamlines its business strategy to

focus more on its core global logistics activity. Tony Lascelles,

Ocean’s director of corporate affairs, said: ’Shandwick handled Ocean on

a more restricted basis. We felt that with the new strategy a change was

appropriate.’

Ocean was originally better known as a shipping company but moved out of

this sector in the late-1980s. It has a market capitalisation of pounds

940 million.
