Richmond Towers board director Robert Metcalfe has moved to the

Rowland Company to take up the newly created position of director,

marketing communications.

Distillers, the Meat and Livestock Commission and Caxton Tower Wines, as

well as leading Richmond Towers’ new business effort, will oversee a

team of 18 marketing communications staff.

At Rowland he will continue working on attracting new business, but his

role will be more strategic.

Managing director Beverley Kaye, said: ’I wanted time to look at the

company as a whole and to ensure that the base was right before bringing

in people at the top. It has taken me 18 months to get the company ready

to jump forward and the remaining six months looking for the right

person.’

Marketing communications was previously under marketing communications

manager James Laird, who has left to join Cameron Choat and Partners as

board director.

Metcalfe, 36, spent six years in journalism, including stints as drinks

after two years.

Commenting on the role Metcalfe said that he would eventually ’look at

reviewing the department structure’ and plans to make a number of

appointments at various levels in the near future.
