in teenage magazines. A Teenage Magazine Arbitration Panel (TMAP) has

Board appointments for PA

The Press Association has appointed News International executive

chairman Les Hinton and Mirror Group chief executive David Montgomery as

non executive board directors.

Scottish Accent launched

Perthshire-based publishing company Scottish Accent is launching Accent,

a bi-monthly glossy women’s fashion and lifestyle magazine for Scottish

readers. It will sell for pounds 2.25.

Classics convergence

Emap Nationals is merging its car magazines Practical Classics and

Popular Classics from the August issue.

Twenty-five apply for RA licence

The radio authority has received 25 applications for the new Independent

local Radio FM licence covering the greater London area. The last big

radio licence to be advertised, when applications closed this week. The

RA hopes to make a decision about the licence by the end of the year.

Meanwhile CLT UK Radio is changing the name of its country music

station Country 1035 AM to RTL Country 1035 Am. RTL stands for Radio

Tele Luxembourg.

PC Direct gets Lynch

Martin Lynch has been made news editor of Ziff Davis’ PC Direct

magazine. He joins from APT where he is deputy editor of Network

Hollis Directories has acquired Willings Press Guide, Advertisers Annual

and the Marketing Handbook from Reed Information Services.

Martin’s Paramount importance

Paramount Channel commercial director John Martin has also taken on the

role of deputy MD with day-to-day responsibility for the running of the

channel in the UK.
