DIARY: Langham seeks new direction in Hackney

Lorraine Langham, Hackney’s newly appointed assistant chief executive (PR and communications) is the kind of person everybody has something nice to say about. But she does have one weakness - she can’t read maps.

Lorraine Langham, Hackney’s newly appointed assistant chief executive

(PR and communications) is the kind of person everybody has something

nice to say about. But she does have one weakness - she can’t read

maps.

‘She’s a bright spark, a high flyer and very lively,’ says Dick

Fedorcio, who swapped the rigours of local authority PR for a job with

the Electricity Association. ‘In fact I tried to hire her when I was

director of corporate communication at Kent County Council but she never

turned up - she got lost in Maidstone, coming off the M20, or so she

said.’

‘Yes, it’s true,’ Langham tells me. ‘But it wasn’t for an interview - I

was right on the deadline for applications so I thought I’d drive down

and post it myself. I never got there. I suppose I’m just geographically

inept’.

Luckily, as Fedorcio points out, there are not too many motorways in

Hackney.
