IPC in sale of Classic Cars
IPC Magazines Specialist Group has sold its Classic Cars magazine to
Emap National Publications which will publish it from July.
Stars join Christian radio
Christian radio station Premier is relaunching on 15 April. It will
include new programmes and presenters and a weekly celebrity guest spot
which will include Sir Cliff Richard, Jeremy Irons and Shirley Bassey.
River wins BMW UK section
Contract publisher River Publishing is to publish a 20-page UK section
for BMW’s 100-page quarterly title, the BMW Magazine, which is published
by Ringier in Germany. River has also wrested UK advertising sales for
the magazine from rival Premier.
Morrison to House Beautiful
Amanda Morrison, currently deputy editor of Period Living and
Traditional Homes, has been appointed associate editor of House
Beautiful with responsibility for style and interior decoration. House
Beautiful chief sub editor Libby Norman has been promoted to assistant
editor, handling food and consumer features.
Media issues for a new century
The Campaign for Press and Broadcasting Freedom has organised a one-day
conference on 18 May called ‘Media and Democracy - the real share issue’
which will address media policies in the 21st century.
Stables joins IPC weeklies
IPC Women’s Weeklies has appointed Helen Stables to the new position of
group marketing and promotions managers across six weekly titles.
Mercury picks up Talk bill
Mercury Communications has agreed to pick up the bill for Talk Radio
listeners calling the station in exchange for free on air mentions.
Callers will use a Mercury FreeCall 0500 number.
Granada forms media group
Granada Group has formed a new division, Granada Media Group, to
spearhead the growth of its TV and media interests. It has hired Duncan
Lewis, formerly chief executive of Mercury Communications, as chief
executive of Granada Media Group.
