Consumer agency Band and Brown Communications has unseated hi-tech firm
A Plus as retained UK PR company to data management business Informix
The agency won the business, which is thought to have a total budget of
around pounds 200,000, in a four-way pitch. A Plus, which was among the
defeated contenders, had previously held the account for four years.
Barbara Stanley, Informix’s north Europe marketing director, said the
company had picked Band and Brown because it wanted to align itself
‘more closely with corporate and enterprise clients’.
She said: ‘With A Plus’s help, we have managed to build a very strong
profile on the technical side of our business. We now want to reinforce
those technical foundations.
‘I think Band and Brown will be able to identify with the issues of the
corporate market-place. They are creative, they have a good strategic
perspective of the business and they will be able to provide solid media
management of the technical press.’
Nick Band, Band and Brown’s chief executive, said that the business
would focus on media relations with ‘one or two innovative sponsorship
