Cross-channel ferry company Sea France has appointed BGB and
Associates to raise its profile.
Fees are expected to reach up to pounds 150,000 for the consumer and
corporate account which was awarded two weeks ago following a five-way
The four others pitching for the contract were Barclay Stratton, Bell
Pottinger Good Relations, Representation Plus and Affinity
Incumbent Charles Barker declined to re-pitch.
BGB will build a media relations campaign, develop reader promotions
with national newspapers, and manage Sea France’s presence at events
targeted at consumers, such as the Ideal Home Exhibition.
The agency will handle crisis PR and work closely with the company’s
in-house PR team as it lobbies the UK Government over the European
Commission’s proposed abolition of duty free, which is set to take place
Sea France runs ferries from Calais to Dover, in competition with P&O
Stena and Hoverspeed. It is the second-largest carrier on the route
after P&O Stena.
BGB will complement the firm’s current pounds 3 million advertising
campaign which features celebrity chef Jean-Christophe Novelli and
lowest fare guarantees.
