Hackney Council has appointed James Flynn as its deputy head of

communications.

Flynn will join from Newham Council where he is communications

officer.

He replaces James Odling-Smee, who left to join the Local Government

Information Unit in July (PR Week, 24 July). Flynn will take up the new

position next month, overseeing a team of seven and reporting to

Hackney’s head of communications Marina Pirotta. Previously, Flynn

worked for three years on London Underground’s Jubilee Line extension

project.
