Arts and charity PR firm Hobsbawm Macaulay Communications, has taken the
unusual step for a small public relations agency of opening a New York
office.
Best known in the UK for its fund-raising work for the Labour Party, HMC
has linked with New York firm Michael Kaminer PR, whose clients include
Time Out New York. Julia Hobsbawm, joint managing director of HMC,
described it as a ‘reciprocal arrangement’. No exchange of equity is
involved.
The two firms have already pitched successfully to the New York-based
photographic publisher Aperture Foundation and are hoping to work on the
New York launch of style magazine Wallpaper - an existing client of HMC
in London. Other clients include web site designer Online Magic.
Hobsbawm said that the two firms were ‘exploring ways of working
together’. She added: ‘not many public relations firms of our size are
doing this but we wanted to extend the service we offer to our clients,
many of whom are very active in the US’.
Hobsbawm Macaulay opened an office in Edinburgh earlier this summer.
