The Wales Tourist Board (WTB) is setting up a communications and

corporate affairs division in an effort to promote Wales more

effectively.

The move is part of WTB’s aim to maximise marketing opportunities from

the Rugby World Cup, which Wales is hosting in 1999.

WTB director of marketing Jonathan Jones will head the department. He

will take responsibility for WTB’s existing press and PR, production and

information services units, which previously operated as separate units.

Further changes include the creation of a marketing development post, to

be held by Pat Crimp, which includes Rugby World Cup in its remit.

‘The Rugby World Cup offers tremendous opportunities to increase Wale’s

profile,’ said WTB chief executive John French.
