The Teacher Training Agency (TTA) has poached Dorian Jabri,
communications and marketing manager for the London Borough of Hackney,
to head up its public relations and information unit.
Jabri, who starts at the TTA this week, managed communications for
Hackney’s education and leisure directorate for seven years with
responsibility for media relations, publications and liaising with head
teachers and school governing bodies.
At the TTA he takes over from Trevor Cook, chief press officer with the
Department for Education and Employment who spent 18 months on
secondment with the agency.
Jabri heads a core team of four staff in charge of media relations and
maintaining contacts with key audiences such as parents, politicians and
local education authorities. He will also lead an effort to boost the
TTA’s overall profile. He reports to head of resources Stephen Hillier.
Jabri said that he would be examining Hill and Knowlton’s integrated PR
and marketing account with the TTA. Appointed in July 1995, the agency
handles a pounds 1 million budget programme.
