Opinion: From out Readers - Recognition of need for lobbying register

Following the Government's response to the public administration select committee report on lobbying, we welcome the fact that the Government recognises the need for a register of lobbyists, and that such a register should be established by the industry.

This register will ensure that the public and parliamentarians can easily identify those lobbyists committed to honesty and transparency. Working together with the new Public Affairs Council, we will establish this register, which is also an important way of incentivising those operating outside the self-regulatory system to work within it.
