London brewer Fuller Smith and Turner has appointed Gill Shaffer as
its first dedicated public relations manager as part of its profile
Following Fuller’s flotation last year, the company is targeting consumers
and the financial and business sectors in a bid to become more outwardly
John Roberts, marketing director, said: ’We need to capitalise on the fact
that we are seen as a quality brand and the appointment is a result of
Shaffer will be focusing on the three main divisions - 204 Fuller’s Inns,
75 Fuller’s Wine Shops and Fuller’s Beer Company.
Shaffer is moving in-house after a stint as a freelance and seven years
experience at Bulletin International and Grayling.
’I decided it was time to cross the fence,’ Shaffer said. ’There’s more
depth to in-house work - you can really get results.’
The brewery’s brands include London Pride, ESB and Chiswick Bitter. It
launched its first TV advertising campaign for flagship beer, London
Pride, in April.
Plans also include the development of new bars, the first of which is due
to open at the end of the summer. It will target 25- to 35-year-olds and
will have a ’female friendly’ emphasis.
The Chiswick-based brewery’s customers include Harrods and British
Airways, and the beers are available nationwide through supermarkets and
