PUBLIC SECTOR: Barbican searches for new press chief

London arts complex the Barbican Centre is hunting for a replacement for press and PR head Valerie Gillard, who is retiring after 18 years with the centre. Reporting to Barbican public affairs director Ruth Hasnip, the post is responsible for a team of five press officers. Hasnip has redefined the role for the new recruit, moving it away from day-to-day management of campaigns. ’I want us to be more strategic about the Barbican brand and how best to communicate it to all our target audiences. It is a repositioning of the role,’ Hasnip said.
