Marketing Manchester, the organisation which is promoting the city
nationally and internationally in the run-up to the 2002 Commonwealth
Games, has appointed SpinMedia to handle its consumer PR and media
The agency will support the organisation as it attempts to raise the
profile of the city and attract tourism and business.
This is the first time Marketing Manchester, which is funded by both the
public and private sectors, has used an outside PR agency.
The agency will report to Lis Phelan, Marketing Manchester deputy chief
SpinMedia managing director Andy Spinoza said the work will involve
promotion of both the city’s cultural activities and its position as a
manufacturing and financial centre.
’The PR activity needs to build on Manchester’s famous popular culture
and sporting profile to reflect the vibrancy of the city,’ he said.
The award of the account, which will initially run for 12 months,
follows a one-off project carried out by SpinMedia for the group last
