Christopher Joll, newly ensconced at The Communication Group, is moving
downmarket.
Yes, Joll is moving from his Mayfair pad to Knightsbridge in search of
larger premises.
A noted collector, Joll tells me that he needs more room for his
antiques and objets d’art, but that the real reason he is moving is to
get a garden.
‘I need somewhere for Mulberry to cock his leg,’ he says, referring to
his one-year-old, standard schnauzer pedigree.
Indeed, such is his affection for the pooch that Joll has paid him the
ultimate tribute - and had him immortalised on canvas.
Joll had taken a dislike to a portrait painted some years ago of himself
in full Lifeguards uniform and commissioned Russian artist Elena Meyer
to superimpose Mulberry’s features over his own. The picture now has
pride of place in Joll’s dining room.
‘Visitors find it very amusing,’ Joll tells me, though Mulberry himself
declined to comment.
