Diary: Father of the bride ensures PR is a family affair

Word reaches me that one PR consultant is about to have the tables turned on her on the occasion of her wedding.

Word reaches me that one PR consultant is about to have the tables

turned on her on the occasion of her wedding.

Emma Hubbard, a healthcare specialist at Charles Barker is marrying

Richard Gaisford, a reporter on ITV’s regional news programme London

Tonight near Chichester this Saturday.

I hear that Emma’s father, an ex-Army officer, is organising the whole

wedding as though it were a PR campaign.

One source told me: ’Emma’s father has a very low opinion of PR and

media people so instead of organising the wedding like a military

operation he is determined to prove that it’s not that difficult to

orchestrate a PR effort.’

Hubbard senior has contacted the local press, the Chichester Echo, in an

attempt to generate coverage and is handling all the speech writing and

interviewing of guests to provide a record of the wedding.

This is not the first time the Hubbards have kept it in the family when

handling media campaigns. Hubbard herself has worked with her intended

on a broadcast campaign for a dog charity where she handled PR, Gaisford

did the reporting and his father acted as cameraman.

I’m afraid I must protect my sources on this story but they’re not bad

for amateurs.
