Ecology Building Society, which specialises in lending money to

house buyers committed to ethical issues, has appointed Dewe Rogerson as

its first agency.

Yorkshire-based Ecology lends money to customers who protect the

environment through energy saving, renovation and use of non-toxic

materials. For instance, it looks more favourably on lending to people

who renovate old properties rather than moving into new homes.

Dewe Rogerson will target the personal finance pages of national

newspapers and consumer media. Its team is led by director Jonathan

Flint and will report to Ecology’s chief executive Paul Ellis. Flint

said: ’The ecological market is expanding. Our task is to establish

Ecology’s name and brand as a benchmark.’

Ecology is a small building society with just pounds 23 million of

assets.

However, it sees PR as a way to take its services to a wider audience as

it attempts to continue current annual growth of around 15 per cent.
