Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream, the US’ second-biggest selling luxury

ice cream brand, has picked Revolver Communications to handle its PR and

marketing activity in the UK.

Revolver scooped the six-figure budget account after a three-way

competitive pitch. Incumbent agency Beer Davies Publicity did not

re-pitch for the business.

Revolver has been briefed to focus on marketing the product’s ’quirkily

humorous personality’, building on the profile of the ice cream brand’s

founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield.

Cohen and Greenfield established the company in the US in 1978, and

donate 7.5 per cent of its pre-tax profits to charity. The brand was

launched in the UK in 1994.

Revolver’s appointment coincides with the advertising push featuring

cartoon versions of Ben and Jerry which launched last month through

Renegade.

The agency will report to group product manager Ian Hills and UK general

manager Helen Jones.
