DIARY: Charles Barker boss is quick to get the point

Charles Barker PR director Steve Gebbett allowed his long suffering

secretary a little sweet revenge last week after ten years of filing his

reports, fielding his calls and booking his lunches.

To celebrate a decade of working together Gebbett presented Pauline

Morgan with a set of shiny Jim Bowen-style darts and a dart board

emblazoned with his photograph.

A crowd gathered as Morgan got rid of years of frustration by pelting

the board in an effort to score a ten, which she did on the fourth

attempt to the delight of onlookers.

‘I thought it would be a good opportunity for her to get her own back at

me,’ explains Gebbett who, despite Morgan’s enthusiasm to try out her

present, insists they have a ‘good relationship’.

‘I’m sure lots of people want to throw darts at me’, Gebbett adds with

just a hint of self pity. Charles Barker’s other 90 employees were

unavailable for comment.
