The European Commission has named the remaining public relations and
advertising firms it has selected to handle its pounds 24 million
promotional campaign for olive oil over the next two years.
Information et Entreprise has been appointed to handle PR in France, CBO
will work in Italy, while Madrid-based agency Tactics will run a
campaign in Spain and Portugal. Public relations in Germany, Greece,
Denmark, the Netherlands and Belgium will be handled by the Euromix
network through its German branch Syntax.
As revealed in PR Week last week, public relations in the UK and Ireland
will be handled by Grayling, while Lintas, which pitched jointly with
Information et Entreprise, will run an advertising programme in the four
olive oil producing countries: Italy, Spain, Portugal and Greece.
Fabio Gencarelli, head of promotion for agricultural products at DG VI,
denied that the selection process, which has taken almost two years to
complete and involved a recall for tender last October, had been unduly
long. ‘It is a very big budget and it has been difficult to make a
selection,’ he said.
