Hanson, the industrial conglomerate run by Lord Hanson, has been

‘sounding out’ financial PR agencies in the run-up to its four-way

demerger.

The industrial giant, which announced in January it was to split into

four separate companies - Imperial Tobacco, Chemicals, Energy and Hanson

- is known to have spoken to at least one financial agency.

A Hanson spokesman confirmed that the company had been taking soundings

but stressed that no formal pitch process would be put in place until

the demerger timetable had been agreed - expected to be within four

weeks.

The spokesman added that Hanson would continue to be advised by Lowe

Bell Financial but that the PR direction of the other three companies

had not yet been fixed.

‘Chemicals will only have a US listing but it may have a PR agency in

the UK,’ he said. ‘The Imperial Tobacco and Energy groups have yet to

decide how to handle PR, but they will need financial PR agencies in the

future.’
