BSkyB is trawling for its first head of corporate PR to help steer the

satellite giant through broadcasting industry issues.

Sky is believed to be offering a salary of between pounds 50,000 and

pounds 100,000 for the post, which will report to Sky’s director of

publicity Raymond Jaffe. The chosen candidate will work alongside Ray

Gallagher, Sky’s head of public affairs, and the company’s head of press

and PR Chris Haynes.

Sky has previously focused much of its public relations efforts on

driving satellite sales and handling programme publicity for its nine

channels.

However the company is thought to be keen to find someone to act as a

spokesman on the many issues facing the broadcast industry including the

introduction of digital television and pay-per-view.

Sky is believed to have put GMTV’s head of press and PR Sue Brealey on

its list of candidates, however a Sky spokes-woman refused to comment.
