Jones Lang Wootton’s head of PR Jane Dickers is quitting the

international real estate firm to join the charity Young Enterprise.

Dickers, who spent almost two years at Jones Lang Wootton, will arrive

at Young Enterprise immediately after Easter as its first director of

communications.

The organisation aims to educate 15- to 19-year-old students about the

business world by helping them run their own registered companies for

one year.

Midland Bank, BT and Nestle are just three of the 2,000 businesses which

are involved in the scheme.

The charity is aiming to increase its publicity to inform schools and

colleges about the work it does and to encourage more businesses to

either provide funding or supply volunteers who can advise students on

every aspect of running a company - from raising capital to writing the

annual report.

Its PR has previously been handled on an ad hoc basis by chief executive

Peter Westgarth. ’We muddle along and talk to the media,’ said

Westgarth.

’But I realise that’s not the way to manage communications. We want a

professional to lift our profile and reach the key audiences of business

and education.’

Dickers has responsibility for five staff and a regional network of four

PR agencies at Jones Lang Wootton. She also worked with international

communications manager Andy Carter on co-ordinating communications with

the company’s 4,000 staff around the world.

Jones Lang Wootton is in the early stages of recruiting a replacement.
