Matt Lorenzo quit this week, just two weeks his high-profile appointment (PRWeek, 23 September 2009). The club has now called in Mace Sport to handle its PR.
Football League officials met yesterday to decide whether to ratify the takeover deal. The takeover has been a long drawn out saga, with Munto Finance buying the club back in July.
Newspaper headlines have since been questioning the validity of the club's new owners.
Notts County also hit the headlines last month when Sol Campbell decided to leave the club just five days after his League Two debut. Director of football Sven-Goran Eriksson helped to sign Campbell on a five-year deal earlier this summer.
Former Sky Sports presenter Lorenzo left his role as comms director at the club on Wednesday. Reports suggest he is now to concentrate on a new television programme he is due to present.
Lorenzo was also head of comms for the global sports division QADBAK Investments, which owns Munto Finance.
Mace Sport MD Paul Mace confirmed the appointment and said the agency would handle all media relations and external PR support for the club going forward.
Mace also previously advised Sulaiman Al Fahim during his troubled takeover of Portsmouth FC this year, before that relationship ended in August.
