Premier PR hires games expert Simon Byron to launch new division

Entertainment agency Premier PR has launched a videogame division operating out of the firm's 60-strong agency.

Newly appointed: Simon Byron
Newly appointed: Simon Byron

The division will be headed up by new recruit Simon Byron. Byron has more than 15 years experience in games PR. He joins from Barrington Harvey where he ran the Guitar Hero, Eidos, Take 2 and Codemasters accounts.

‘Videogames PR agencies have traditionally come in two flavours: those that know games but lack the mainstream experience to really push them beyond the gaming press or larger agencies who can't tell a PlayStation from an Xbox,' said Byron. ‘Premier presents the opportunity to marry expert gaming knowledge with the support of a mainstream entertainment agency.'

Premier PR Games' first clients are a project for Warner Bros Interactive to launch Scribblenauts on Nintendo DS, and a monthly retainer with Rising Star Games.

Premier PR specialises in clients in the film, TV, theatre, events and celebrity sectors. Recent campaigns include Slumdog Millionaire, 24, Ashes to Ashes, The Reader, War Horse and among recent agency wins is the next series of Doctor Who.  Celebrity clients include Daniel Craig, Kate Winslet and Jude Law.
