Burson-Marsteller’s managing director of UK healthcare David

McCarthy is moving to the agency’s Asia Pacific region.

McCarthy, who has held the UK post for three years, will join the

Singapore-based healthcare practice as chairman from 20 January.

His job, heading a division of around 44 staff, has been handed to Nigel

Garland, a former business unit director at the medical education outfit

Oxford Communications.

B-M’s healthcare clients include Zeneca, Pharmacia Upjohn and Johnson

and Johnson. Other staff changes include the resignation of B-M’s

European marketing director Alex Price and European managing director of

research and planning Jane Atkin.

Price, who is responsible for B-M’s own PR as well as new business, is

joining whisky distiller William Grant and Sons next month as its first

PR manager.

Atkin, who is leaving after eight years at the agency, was unavailable

for comment.
