Granada Media Group head of corporate communications John

Brissenden is switching channels to join United Broadcasting and

Entertainment (UB&E).

Brissenden will serve six months notice before arriving at UB&E under

the new title of controller, press and publicity.

A division of United News and Media, UB&E owns the ITV companies

Meridian Broadcasting and Anglia TV, has a stake in Channel 5 and a

range of joint ventures with Time Warner companies.

Reporting to director of public affairs Simon Albury, Brissenden’s job

will be to ’fill the gaps’ in UB&E’s PR - currently split between

various in-house departments, freelance and external staff.

Commenting on his new role, Brissenden said: ’The problem now is

resources are scattered across three sites. There is a bigger

organisation that is not getting the service it needs in managing its

profile.’

Brissenden’s TV PR experience includes working for British Satellite

Broadcasting and heading the team working on the Channel 3 licence bid

by Meridian.

He joined Granada TV as head of press and programme publicity in 1995,

rising to his present position at Granada Media Group last autumn.

His time at the TV group included handling media relations for Richard

Madeley and Judy Finnegan’s interview with OJ Simpson.
