Liz Roberts, formerly acting head of press and publicity at Channel
5 Broadcasting, has resurfaced as the first press and PR manager for
fledgling cable and satellite channel Granada Sky Broadcasting.
Roberts joined GSkyB last week with a brief to manage programme
publicity and corporate issues for the three month-old joint Granada and
She will head a press team of four and report to GSkyB marketing
director Ann Cook.
Granada began the search for a public relations person last spring (PR
Week, 8 March 1996).
Roberts spent two years as head of press and publicity at BSkyB before
moving to Channel 5 early last February in the temporary role of head of
press and publicity. The channel appointed Redwood publisher Sally Osman
four months later (PR Week, 14 June).
GSkyB transmits seven channels including the archive station Granada
Plus which screens vintage Coronation Street episodes and the
male-oriented channel Men and Motors.
Granada and BSkyB already have their own communications divisions.
