The UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) chose Nelson Bostock after a four-way competitive pitch, managed by the Central Office of Information (COI).
The UKHO produces a range of global electronic and paper nautical charts, publications and services for the Royal Navy and the international shipping industry.
Nelson Bostock's brief is to support the UKHO in the shift to digital navigation that will become mandatory on large ships from 2012 onwards.
Under the three-year contract, Nelson Bostock will support the UKHO in the UK as well as in overseas markets, especially within Asia.
The win marks the agency's first COI contract since being appointed to the roster earlier this year. The account will be headed by board director Simon Glazer.
The UKHO has been supplying the world's mariners with charts for more than 200 years. It is part of the Ministry of Defence.
