SportScotland is inviting agencies to submit expressions of interest by 23 October.
The winning agency will be responsible for rolling out four media campaigns every year. According to the pitch document, seen by PRWeek, campaigns could include ‘The contribution of sport during a recession', ‘Commonwealth Games Delhi 2010' and ‘The importance of community sport'.
SportScotland is expected to appoint an agency in January. The pitch is being led by its comms manager Alan Miller.
The organisation advises the Scottish Government on sport and its development in Scotland. It is funded by the Scottish Government and the National Lottery.
Existing retained agency Smarts is being invited to repitch for the account.
Separately, Edinburgh-based PR agency CM Porter Novelli has been reappointed to handle PR for VisitScotland's business tourism unit.
The agency was awarded the three-year account worth £330,000 following a competitive pitch.
