John Doe to handle the consumer relaunch of music retailer Zavvi

Online retail group The Hut Group has called in John Doe to handle the consumer relaunch of music store Zavvi.

Consumer relaunch: Zavvi

Zavvi, the former high street music retailer, went into administration at the end of last year. It was left without stock when its distributor, Woolworth’s entertainment arm Entertainment UK, closed.

The Hut Group bought the Zavvi name in March to use as an online-only brand. It has now hired John Doe, the agency set up by former Shine Communications creative director Rana Reeves in April.

John Doe will be responsible for all media relations and will attempt to highlight the retailer’s unique offerings, including free delivery. It will initially focus on re-establishing the brand in consumers’ minds in the run up to Christmas.

Meanwhile Reeves has also hired Crissie Bushell as an account director, working on clients PlayStation, Vice Media Group and Ctrl.Alt.Shift.

She was previously an account director at Eden CanCan, and was one of PRWeek’s 29 under 29 in 2007.
