Charles Barker has scooped an estimated pounds 70,000 fee account
from Toyota Motor Europe to promote a charity project run in partnership
with pop star Phil Collins’ 1997 European tour.
Toyota and Collins aim to raise dollars 1 million (pounds 625,000) for
European youth projects and are working in co-operation with the
European Commission to support a range of schemes, such as helping the
homeless and providing job training for young people.
Charles Barker clinched the business following a three-way pitch against
Edelman PR and Scope Ketchum Communications and will work on the project
for the duration of the tour.
During the tour audiences will be encouraged to buy charity-related
merchandise, while Toyota’s dealer network will help raise cash through
PR for Toyota’s sponsorship of the tour itself is being handled by Peter
Noble PR, which pitched successfully against Poole Edwards Publicity.
