The Scottish Liberal Democrat Party has appointed Lindsay Linton to

promote its leader’s political tour of the country in advance of the

Scottish Parliament elections.

Linton will head a team of three press officers organising Scottish

Liberal Democrat leader Jim Wallace’s tour and co-ordinating media

relations for the tour from the party’s Edinburgh headquarters.

She will work on secondment from Harrison Cowley, where she is an

account manager, throughout this month until the elections in May.

Meanwhile, beefing up its press office in the election run-up, the party

has appointed three extra press officers, bringing its total team to

seven staff. The additions, Lynsae Forrester, Siubhan Daly and Helen

Kerridge will report to senior press officer Tony Hutson.

Linton worked for the Liberal Democrats in London for four years, during

which her duties included co-ordinating leader Paddy Ashdown’s tour of

the UK in the run-up to the last general election.

She said: ’We’ve got some fantastic things for Jim to do. We’ll

highlight rural transport as an issue. It will be very visual, with a

serious message behind it.’

The Liberal Democrat Party is the second party in Scotland, after the

Labour Party, with ten seats in the House of Commons. It is campaigning

in the Scottish elections under the slogan, ’Raising the standard’.
