McCann Erickson is to launch a double-pronged assault on London PR. Ad
agency McCann Erickson, London confirmed this week it is looking to buy
a PR agency even as Bristol-based McCann Erickson PR, part of the McCann
Erickson UK regional network, put the final touches to plans for a new
David Longman, director of marketing at McCann Erickson, London said he
had talked to two PR agencies about a potential tie-up in the form of a
full or partial acquisition.
Meanwhile Ron Dyson, managing director of the McCann Erickson PR in
Bristol and driving force behind the London launch, said it had already
landed one client. The office would be autonomous from the London ad
agency, he said. ‘It is important that PR is seen to be a stand alone
discipline,’ he told PR Week.
Headed by David Wilford, the London launch will be the fifth PR agency
to open under the auspices of McCann Erickson UK.
