Hot on the bell-decorated heels of last week’s story that Morris dancing
is a favoured pastime of financial PR types, comes more news of hidden
talent in the business.
Head of things international at GCI, Adrian Wheeler is down as the live
entertainment at a Christmas party for 300 bikers at the courier company
Canon later this month.
For despite his ‘intellectuel torture’ exterior, Wheeler, it appears,
can be better described as PR’s answer to Keith Moon, playing a leading
role for the past six years in the band Easy Money as he belts out cover
versions of Honky Tonk Woman, Cocaine and I Knew the Bride on his kit.
Wheeler says the band, which enjoys an occasional appearance from
independent IT PR consultant Mark Riminton on bass, injects a shot of
realism into the otherwise surreal world of PR. ‘It brings me back down
to earth,’ insists the PR industry’s wild man of rock, while fending off
another teenage groupie.
Easy Money is available for weddings, funerals and also barmitzvahs.
