Flack: (Saving) on expenses - La Petite Folie, Edinburgh

Reviewer Kirsty Leiper, account manager, Mandate Scotland.

What is it good for?

The Little Madness offers the perfect destination for a tasty lunch sampling the best French cuisine at the heart of Edinburgh's West End. It is also only a stone's throw from the Mandate Scotland office.

Signature dish

The menu is a combination of carefully crafted dishes ranging from roast rib of beef with Bordelaise sauce, to traditional French 'moules' served in garlic and white wine sauce, or the popular steak frites.

Who's the boss?

Virgine Brouard opened the first La Petite Folie in 1996 and the second in Randolph Place six years ago, having learned everything she knows from working in Pierre Victoire.

Tips please?

If possible, always book ahead. While the staff will go out of their way to get you seated, it is a popular restaurant and is regularly busy. Both branches of the restaurant can be hired for budget-conscious private parties.

What's the damage?

The gastronomic lunch menu is served at the great price of £8.95 for two courses from 12 noon until 3pm.

Tudor House, 9 Randolph Place, Edinburgh EH3 7TE.
