Hayman in shock exit

The Communication Group's chief executive Michael Hayman has made a surprise exit.

Deputy chairman Peter Hamilton would not reveal whether Hayman had been made redundant, but he said: 'The separation of the chairman and chief executive roles hasn't proved cost-effective.'

Hayman took the role in 2005, joining from Hill & Knowlton. He was not answering his mobile as PRWeek went to press. It is not known whether he has another role lined up.

Chairman Maureen Smith's role has now been combined with that of chief executive.

The Communication Group was ranked 56th in PRWeek's Top 150 Consultancies, with a 2008 fee income of £4.4m.
