DIARY: Pregnant pause for ale man’s plans to retreat

Just weeks after we revealed Stephen Cox, CAMRA’s head of campaigns, was calling last orders on beer and PR to spend three months reflecting on life at a Quaker retreat, life has stepped in with a somewhat different idea.

Just weeks after we revealed Stephen Cox, CAMRA’s head of

campaigns, was calling last orders on beer and PR to spend three months

reflecting on life at a Quaker retreat, life has stepped in with a

somewhat different idea.



’We are pregnant,’ he tells me, touchingly. ’So instead of time

navel-gazing at Birmingham’s Woodbrooke College, it’ll be changing

nappies in Wood Green.’



Despite the extra mouth to feed, Cox has not opted to beg back his

resignation.



’After eight-and-a-half years with CAMRA, it is time to move on. I think

I’ll try my hand at house-husbanding for a while.’
