The News International title announced it was to enter a 30-day consultation period on closing the paper on 20 August.
Thelondonpaper recorded a pre-tax loss of £12.9m for the year and its closure means the loss of approximately 60 jobs.
The free newspaper was distributed to 500,348 people across London (Source: ABC, January-July 2009).
It leaves Daily Mail and General Trust-owned London Lite without a rival in the capital's free evening paper market.
