Up-market shoe maker and retailer Bally has appointed Manning Selvage
and Lee to handle its UK trade and consumer public relations.
The agency will handle the Switzerland-based firm’s day-to-day media
relations, new store openings and the gala re-opening of its Bond Street
branch later this year.
MS&L won the public relations account, worth more than pounds 100,000,
around 65 per cent of which is fees, without a pitch. The announcement
of the win follows work by MS&L’s offices in London, and the Hague to
promote this week’s opening of Bally’s new Maastricht store.
MS&L UK managing director Jackie Elliot said that the PR consultancy had
been in discussion with Bally about the UK business for around six
Elliot said Bally, which has 500 stores in 70 countries, was keen to
ensure that its brand, already synonymous with quality, was also
associated with fashionable and up-to-date products.
She linked the consultancy’s appointment to ‘chemistry’ between the two
teams. She added: ‘I think Bally liked the fact that we do a lot of work
for ‘big names’, like Rolex and Lego, and are not frightened by them, I
think they also liked our European network.’
