PARIS: France’s state-owned national railway company, SNCF, is

seeking up to ten agencies to work on its nationwide PR campaigns next

year, accounts with a total annual budget of about pounds 700,000.

The firm tendered for agency support last month and expects to make the

appointments by the end of January.

Each selected agency will be briefed to conduct separate campaigns on a

project basis. The campaigns will be of varying length targeting

specific audiences - commuters, students and young people.

The campaigns will be run by different divisions within SNCF, including

its communications department, its mainline services division and its

regional railway division. The firm has not decided how many campaigns

it will run yet.

SNCF purchasing manager Jean-Serges Petrau is coordinating the

tender.

He said: ’We are seeking companies which will be able to provide us with

targeted communications plans.’ At present, SNCF employs nine agencies

on a similar basis for its campaigns. These are expected to repitch for

next year’s work.

SNCF carries 755,000 passengers a day on its mainline services and over

one million a day within the greater Paris region. Its network also

transports 351,000 tonnes of freight across France every day.
