The Commonwealth Development Corporation has recruited Ben Morton

to take on the role of corporate communications director (PR Week, 16

October).

Morton has just spent three years in South Africa, working as a

financial relations consultant for the fledgling Chime Communications

subsidiary Meropa. He joins the CDC, a government agency, which invests

in developing countries, this week. His predecessor, Sean Magee, is now

the representative for the Economic Development Finance Institutions in

Brussels. Morton has a team of five, working on internal and external

relations, and reports directly to chief executive Roy Reynolds. The CDC

is due for privatisation this year so the role has a new responsibility

for investor relations.
