PUBLIC SECTOR: Midwives seek corporate affairs head

The Royal College of Midwives is seeking its first head of corporate affairs to manage its PR and marketing activities. The post replaces incumbent PR head Malcolm MacMillan, who is due to leave the college in February to become managing director of press agency Newspoint. His replacement will assume the new title, although the responsibilities of the post will not change. These include internal and external communications and organisation of the College’s annual conference. MacMillan started with the College - a trade union body of some 37,000 members - in 1984 as a parliamentary consultant, graduating to the full-time PR role six years ago. The corporate affairs department has three staff: one support and two part-time press officers. The head reports to general secretary Karlene Davis.
